이 연구의 목적은 한국어 공동체에서 실현되는 신체언어와 한국 문화와의 관련성을 밝히는데 있다. 신체언어는 의사소통의 과정에서 나타나는 비언어적 의사소통 행위 중의 하나로 인간의 신체를 통해서 나타나는 의사 표시의 한 형식이다. 신체언어의 상위범주인 비언어적 의사소통 행위는 ‘비구조성, 비분절성과 총체성, 의미단위의 개체성, 상황의존성, 문화의존성, 시각의존성과 가시성’이라는 특성을 가지고 있다. 그리고 비언어적 행위는 대체로 문화 의존적인 경향을 가지고 있다. 신체언어의 특성은 상위범주인 비언어적 행위의 특성에 ‘언어대체성, 언어표현에 대한 보완성, 함축성’이 더해진다. 신체언어의 종류는 신체언어를 생성하는 신체부위에 따라 ‘표정, 시선, 몸짓, 자세, 상징’이 있다. 이러한 신체언어들의 문화의존도는 아래와 같이 보일 수 있다. 표정 시선 몸짓 자세 상징 약 ← → 강 문화의존도
Abstract
This paper is to reveal the relevance between various body language phenomena and culture in Korean communities. A body language is one of the non verbal communication acts during communication process and an expression form in which feelings and thoughts are shown by means of the positions and movements of human body. The non verbal communication act which is higher category of body language is characterized by non structurality, non segmentalization, totality, individuality of semantic units, situation dependence, culture dependence, visual dependence and visibility. In addition, the non verbal communication act largely has culture dependence tendency. Besides its non verbal act characteristics, the body language also has qualities of language substitution, supplementation and implication of language expressions. The types of body language are ‘facial expressions, sights, gestures, posture, symbols’.
