국어 사동문에 나타난 사동 행위의 직·간접성 －사동문의 논항 구조와 사건 구조를 중심으로－

이 논문은 사동문의 논항 구조와 사건 구조를 근거로 1970년대이후 지속되어 온 사동문의 형태와 의미 사이의 관계에 대한 쟁점을 살펴보고 Pustejovsky(1995)의 ‘생성 어휘부 이론’과 김윤신(2001)에서 논의된바를 바탕으로 국어 사동문에 나타난 사동 행위의 직·간접성을 어휘 의미론적 층위에서 논의하고자 한다. 단형 사동문은 사동사의 어근 동사가갖는 논항 구조와 사건 구조에 따라서 각기 다른 논항 구조와 사건 구조를 가지므로 직접 사동과 간접 사동의 정도가 달라지게 된다. 반면, 장형사동문은 ‘-게 하다’의 사동 구성에 참여하는 동사의 논항 구조나 사건 구조와 관계없이 사동 행위의 간접성이 두드러짐을 알 수 있다. 이러한 사실은 사동문의 직·간접성에 대한 논의가 어휘 의미론적 측면에서도 다루어져야 할 문제임을 시사한다.
Abstract
This paper aims to observe the Yang-Shibatani controversy on the relation between the form and the meaning of the causatives in Korean, which has started since 1970’s, based on the argument structure and the event structure of the Korean causatives. Then I try to discuss the directiveness of the Korean causatives on the level of the lexical semantics by accepting Pustejovsky (1995)’s the Generative Lexicon Theory as its theoretical basis and being based on Y-S. Kim (2001). Short form causatives have the different argument structures and event structures and the degree of their directiveness, according to those of their root verbs. On the other hand, long form causatives means the distinct indirect causatives without regard to their root verbs’ argument structures and event structures. This suggests that the issue on the directiveness of the causatives should be treated in the lexical semantics as well as in the syntax.
