한국어 두 사동구문의 의미기능 분석

이 논문에서는 두 가지의 구문 형식으로 표현되는 사동구문에서 사동의미가 어떻게 결정되는 것인지를 분석하고, 두 유형의 사동구문이 용법상 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 설명하고자 하였다. 먼저 사동의미의 해석은 어근 서술어가 기술하는 사건의 실질적 동작주 해석을 사동주와 피사동주 사이에서 누구로 판단하느냐에 따라 결정되는 것으로 보았다. 그리고 사동의미 해석이 어근 서술어의 의미 논항 특성과 사동주 및 피사동주의 자발성 자질에 의해 결정되는 것임을 설명하였다. 그리고 두 사동구문의 용법은 화자가 사동주와 피사동주 사이에서 어느 것에 정보의 무게를 두느냐에 따라 결정되는 것으로 보았다. 단형사동이 사동주에 정보의 무게를 두는 용법인 반면에 장형사동은 피사동주에 정보의 무게를 두는 용법이라고 주장하였다. 정보의 무게를 설명하는 일은 Kuno(1987)의 Empathy 위계성에 적용되는 규칙을 따랐다.
Abstract
This paper aims to analyze how the causative meaning is determined in two types of causative constructions, and to explain the differences in semantic function between the two causatives. Firstly it has been assumed that the causative meaning is determined by the interpretation of the actual agent of the event described by a root verb. It shows that the semantic interpretation in directiveness of causation is determined by the semantic properties of a root verb as well as the volitional feature of Causer and Causee. The use of two types of causatives is the matter of that a speaker places the information weight heavier between Causer and Causee. The short-form causative has higher information weight in Causer, while the long-form causative in Causee. Explaining the weight of information follows the rules that apply to the Empathy hierarchy in Kuno (1987).
