온라인 후기글 문서에 나타난 ‘좀’의 실현 양상과 극성 전환에 대한 연구

본 연구는 실제 온라인 후기글에서 ‘좀’이 어떠한 양상으로 나타나는지 살펴보고, 그 중에서도 이전 연구에서는 언급하지 않았던 극성전환 장치로써 기능하는 양상에 주목하여 논의하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 언어학적인 전통에서, ‘좀’은 정도부사나 혹은 담화표지로 언급을 하였지만, 많은 연구자들은 ‘좀’이 가지고 있는 극성에 대해서는 간과했었다. ‘좀’은 온라인 후기 글에서 높은 빈도로 출현하는 단어이며, 많은 경우 극성을 전환시킨다는 점에서 간과할 수 없는 성분이다. 이런 점에서 정확한 오피니언 자동 분류 연구를 위해서는 ‘좀’에 대한 구체적인 통사ㆍ의미적인 연구가 선행되어야 할 필요가 대두된다. 본 연구에서는 오피니언 문서에서 ‘좀’과 공기하는 서술어의 유형을 살펴보고, 이를 토대로 ‘좀’을 몇 가지 유형으로 분류 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study aims at the description of predicate types co-occurring with ‘jom’ which can reverse the opinion polarity of subjective sentences. In linguistic tradition, ‘jom’ has been considered one of the discourse markers or a type of the adverbs of degree, and many scholars have overlooked the aspect of 'jom' as a polarity shifting device (PSD). In this study, a corpus of 300,000 token-sized online review texts (MR-01 corpus) has been analyzed and on this ground, 3 classes of 'jom' are proposed. Only one class of 'jom' may be analyzed as a PSD if certain syntactic and semantic conditions are satisfied. About 15% out of the total occurrences of 'jom' in the MR-01 corpus is revealed as a PSD: the most important types of the predicates co-occurring with this type of 'jom' are the adjectives that convey a neutral or context-dependent polarity such as 'kilta (long)' or 'khuta (big)'. The results confirm that an empirical examination of the predicate types co-occurring with 'jom' is indispensable in the reliable classification of opinion sentences.
