日韓両言語における多義オノマトペの意味拡張ー意味と統語の関連性を中心にー

본 연구는 한국어와 일본어의 다의 의성어의태어를 대상으로 통어와의 관련성에 주목하여 의미확장의 양상과 의미확장을 좌우하는 요소를 명확히 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석대상은 한국어 의성어의태어 72단어(총 185의미), 일본어 의성어의태어 74단어(총 141의미)를 대상으로 하여 은유기제, 환유기제, 은유와 환유가 동반하여 나타나는 것 총 3가지로 분류하여 각각 통어실현양상과의 연관성을 검토하였다. 분석결과, 기본기에서는 한일양국어 모두 부사로 기능하였던 것이 확장기에서는 부사를 비롯하여 동사, 형용사, 명사 등 다양한 통어범주를 보였다. 이러한 결과의 배경에는, (1) 기본기의 통어실현구조에 의한 동기유발, (2) 개별언어고유의 의미분포와 통어실현과의 연결관계가 기반에 있다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 즉, 이는 통어가 특정한 의미확장을 유발시키는 주요한 요소라는 것을 말해주는 결과라고 할 수 있다. 또한 한일대조를 통해 한국어는 은유기제의 의미확장을, 일본어는 환유기제의 의미확장을 일으키기 쉽다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 마지막으로 한국어 의성어의태어의 관용구적인 쓰임은, 한국어 의성어의태어가 어휘적으로 언어체계에 깊게 통합되어 있다는 사실을 뒷받침하는 현상이라고 말할 수 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to clarify aspects of semantic extension and the factors that influence semantic extension by attending to the relevance of the syntactic grammar of ideophones in Korean and Japanese. The subjects of the analysis were 68 Korean ideophones (199 means) and 74 Japanese ideophones (141 means). I examined the relevance of the following three groups: metaphor, metonymy, metaphor & metonymy and syntactic realizations. As a result, Japanese and Korean adverbs were used in basic meaning, but various syntactic categories, including adverbs, verbs, adjectives, and nouns, were also included in the extended meaning. These results are based on the following aspects: (1) motivation by realizing the syntactic structure in the basic meaning, and (2) the link between the inherent semantic distribution and syntactic realization of the individual language. In other words, the syntax is a major factor in semantic extension. In addition, it was evident that Korean ideophones extended to metaphor meanings, while Japanese ideophones extended to metonymy meanings. Indeed, the fact of idiomatic expressions in Korean ideophones suggest that Korean ideophones are more deeply integrated into the language system than Japanese ideophones.
