전제와 함축에 기초한 보조조사의 의미 분석(2) - ‘부터’와 ‘까지’를 중심으로 -

이 글에서는 ‘부터’와 ‘까지’의 의미를 전제와 함축으로 기초로 분석했는데, 다음과 같이 간추릴 수 있다. 첫째, 다른 보조조사들이 한정적 논항과 결합하는 데 비하여, ‘부터’와 ‘까지’는 한정적/비한정적 논항과 결합한다. 둘째, ‘부터’와 ‘까지’는 범위가 순서 있는 집합임을 전제하고 있다. ‘부터’의 초점은 선택항 앞에는 범위에 속하는 나머지항이 없다는 것이고, ‘까지’의 초점은 선택항 뒤에는 범위에 속하는 나머지항이 없다는 것이다. 셋째, ‘부터’와 ‘까지’가 사용된 부정문의 초점은 두 가지로 해석된다. 하나는 ‘부터’와 ‘까지’의 부정의 초점은 둘 다 선택항이 배제된다는 것이다. 다른 하나는 ‘부터’의 부정의 초점은 앞의 나머지항이 범위에 포함된다는 것이고, ‘까지’의 부정의 초점은 뒤의 나머지항이 범위에 포함된다는 것이다. 넷째, ‘부터’와 ‘까지’기 사용된 긍정문에 대한 부정은, ‘도, 만, 조차, 마저, 이나마, 이라도’가 사용된 긍정문에 대한 부정과는 달리, 부정문으로 표현하면서 ‘부터’와 ‘까지’를 그대로 유지한다. 다섯째, ‘도, 만, 조차, 마저, 이나마, 이라도’와 ‘부터, 까지’의 결합에서, ‘X부터, X까지’가 ‘도, 만, 조차, 마저, 이나마, 이라도’의 작용 범위에 든다.
Abstract
In this paper, I discussed the meaning of postpositions of delimitation in Korean. I interpreted the presuppositions and focuses of the sentences having ‘puthe, kkači’ according to including or excluding the selected member or the remaining members in the scope. ‘Puthe’ and ‘kkači’ both presupposes that the range is a ordered set. And the focus is ‘puthe’ is that there is no remaining members included in the range in front of the selected member, and the focus is ‘kkači’ is that there is no remaining members included in the range at back of the selected member. The focus of negation of the sentence with ‘Puthe’ and ‘kkači’ has two interpretations. One of them is that the selected members are excluded in both ‘puthe’ and ‘kkači.’ The other of them is as follows: the focus of negation of ‘puthe’ is that the remaining members at the fore is included in the range, and the focus of negation of ‘kkači’ is that the remaining members at the back is included in the range.
