이 논문의 목적은 ‘종속적 사회집단’ 혹은 ‘하층민중’으로 정의되는 서발턴의 존엄과 권리 회복을 위한 방법과 사상을 도출하는 데 있다. 거기서 서벌턴 스스로가 자기실현을 위해 몰주체적 지위에서 벗어나 주체를 되찾는 것, 그리고 지배와 종속의 관계를 바로잡을 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 것이다. 구체적으로는 일본의 전쟁 전과 후의 차별 사례를 다루면서, 거기에 잠재된 천황제와 서벌턴의 관계에 대해 논의한다. 또한 동아시아 초국가적 서벌턴이 그 지역성과 국가 간 관계의 복잡성, 그리고 제국주의 일본인의 배타적 민족주의와 제국의식 등 다양한 소외 요인 속에서 극도로 비인권적인 환경에 놓여있던 역사적 사실에 대해 살펴본다. 이러한 과제에 직면함으로써 피차별자로서의 서벌턴의 주체성을 되찾을 수 있는 길을 제시한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to develop methods and ideas for restoring the dignity and rights of the savartan, defined as a “subordinate social group” or “lower class people”. The purpose of this paper is to find ways to restore the dignity and rights of the savartan, defined as a “subordinate social group” or “lower class people,” and to find ways to restore their subjectivity and correct the relationship between domination and subordination in order for the savartan to self-actualize themselves. Specifically, I will discuss cases of discrimination in Japan before and after World War II, and examine the latent relationship between the Emperor System and Sabartan. We will also touch upon the historical fact that East Asian transnational savartans were placed in an extremely inhuman environment amidst various marginalizing factors such as regionalism, the complexity of interstate relations, and the exclusionary nationalism and imperial consciousness of the imperial Japanese people. By confronting such issues, I will propose ways to recover the subjectivity of Sabartan as a discriminated people.
