現代日本語における複合的な陳述副詞の一考察 - 「客観的にみれば」「客観的にみると」を対象にして -

Abstract

This paper discusses cases in which the conditional form of the verb みる (to see) , which expresses visual activity, みれば and みると are combined with 客観的に (objectively) and used as compound sentence adverbs that express the speaker’s attitude of speaking. When 客観的に functions as an adverb, it mainly modifies verbs of perceptual/ recognitive activity, intellectual/thinking activity, and expressive activity, and expresses a psychological attitude in which the agent refrains from his/her own subjective attitude in the process of these activities. And when みれば and みると function as predicates in subordinate sentences, 客観的に also expresses the same psychological attitude of the agent. However, when みれば , みると and 客観的に are combined to form 客観的 にみれば and 客観的にみると , they become a compound sentence adverb that expresses the speaker's attitude toward the way (s)he speaks. The feature of the use of 客観的にみれば and 客観的にみると as a sentence adverb lies in the status of the agent and the basis for the evaluation and judgment of the object. In the case of adverbs such as 今からみれば or 今思えば , the basis for the evaluation and judgment is based solely on the speaker's experience and memory. On the other hand, in the case of 客観的にみれば and 客観的にみると , the speaker (including the writer) assumes that the hearer (including the reader) and someone are also the agents of evaluation and judgment. Then, the basis for evaluation and judgment is assumed to be what is socially known and generally recognized as common sense in society in general, including individual concrete events, which are accessible to the hearer and someone
