源氏物語の第2部に登場する若き柏木は、朱雀院の娘である女三宮が光源氏の正妻として六条院に入った後も諦めきれずにいた。そんな中、六条院で催された蹴鞠の際に女三宮を垣間見たことで、胸に秘めていた情念が再び燃え上がり、次第に平静を失っていく。彼女と引き合わせた猫や、女二宮との結婚によって気を紛らわせようとするが、女三宮への執着はますます深まっていった。六条院を巡る様々な噂に耳を傾け、不満を抱いては言いがかりをつけ、そうした噂を利用して女三宮との逢瀬を正当化しようとする。そして、小侍従を介してついに密通に至るが、女三宮との心の通い合いはおろか、｢あはれ｣の一言すら聞くことなく別れることとなる。 密通の発覚によって光源氏への恐れが増し、ついには死へと向かうが、密通の際に見た｢猫の夢｣に慰めを見出し、女三宮の出産の知らせを待ち望む。 本稿では、蹴鞠の場面以降、密通前後の過程、そして死に至るまでの本文を分析し、柏木の感情の変化や行動様式を考察する。特に、女三宮との断絶感や光源氏に対する恐怖を抱えながらも、死の床で｢猫の夢｣を通じて希望を見出そうとする柏木の心理の変遷を明らかにする。 本論の構成として、第Ⅱ章では六条院で催された蹴鞠の場面において、柏木が女三宮を垣間見る過程を詳しく見ていく。第Ⅲ章では、六条院を巡る噂を利用しながら、小侍従を説得し続け、女三宮との逢瀬の機会を得ようとする過程を取り上げる。第Ⅳ章では、柏木と女三宮の密通の過程を分析し、両者の断絶性を明らかにする。その後、光源氏への恐れに苛まれながら死へと向かう病床において、｢あはれ｣を求め、｢猫の夢｣に希望を託す柏木の心理を探る。第Ⅴ章では、柏木と源氏の関係を探索し、柏木に対する源氏の｢あはれ｣、柏木の鎮魂、相似を通じた血筋の継承を分析考察する。
Abstract
The young Kashiwagi, who appears in the second part of “Genji Monogatari,” cannot give up even though Suzakuin’s daughter Onnasanomiya entered Rokujoin as Hikaru Kenji’s wife. One day, Kashiwagi’s passion burns again and gradually loses its normalcy when he peeks at Onnasanomiya at the Gemari held in Rokujoin. He takes care of the cat who gave him an opportunity to see Onnasanomiya, and he soothes his mind by marrying Onnaninomiya, but his obsession with Onnasanomiya intensifies. He listens to all the rumors surrounding the Rokujoin, nitpicking as a complaint, and tries to use them to justify his meeting with Onnasanomiya. He finally reaches adultery through Gojiju, but he breaks up without hearing a word of AWARE from Onnasanomiya. When he is discovered to have committed adultery, he moves on the path of death in fear of Kenji, but he is comforted by his cat dream and waits for the news that Onnasanomiya gave birth safely. This paper examines the emotional changes and behavioral patterns of kashiwagi through the analysis of the text from a peek at Onnasannomiya to death. In particular, it analyzes the psychological changes that Kashiwagi had hoped for through “cat dreams” even as he headed toward the death of self-destruction with fear of Genji. As for the composition of the body, Chapter II examines the process of Kashiwagi peeking at Onnasanomiya in the Gemari-scene of Rokujoin. Chapter III deals with the process of obtaining an opportunity to meet Onnasanomiya using rumors surrounding Rokujoin. Chapter IV confirms the disconnection between Kashiwagi and Onnasanomiya through the analysis of the text of the scene of adultery. It also examines the psychological change in which Kashiwagi leads to death but hopes through cat dreams. ChapterⅤ explores the relationship between Kashiwagi and Genji, analyzing Genji’s AWARE toward Kashiwagi, Kashiwagi’s act of requiem, and the inheritance of blood through resemblance.
