This paper discusses the communication strategies employed by Korean students in learning Malay language as second language, particularly the types of communication strategies adopted in delivering messages using Malay language. The study is conducted in University, Korea where Malay language is taught as a second language. Thus, Korean students who are studying Malay language as a foreign language are the subjects of the study. The focus of the study is the aspect of utterance production through oral and written communications. The overall findings of this study indicated that communication strategies are very essential in the communication process. It is apparent that communication process is more meaningful and effective with the implementation of communication strategies. In conclusion, the subjects have actively employed communication strategies while conversing in Malay. Hence, communication in Malay language among Korean students can be enhanced by using these strategies.
