This study will investigate the changing faces of selected words of Indian origins in Malay which have undergone transformation through the social mileu in Malaysia. Authentic samples from classical and contemporary Malay texts will be used in tracing the etymology of these words while news and reports will be utilised to provide the reasons behind the change in meaning.
