이 연구는 Grice의 함축 이론을 바탕으로 TOPIK II 듣기 대화문을 분석하고, 그 결과를 활용하여 중급 한국어 학습자를 위한 함축 이론 교육 방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 제83회, 제91회, 제96회 듣기 자료 중 대화문 42개를 중심으로 대화 격률 위반에 따른 함축 표현을 분석한 결과, 모든 문항에서 함축이 나타났다. 이를 통해 TOPIK II 듣기 자료가 함축 이론 교육에 적용하는 것의 효과적임을 확인하였으며 이에 기반한 함축 이론 교육 방안을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 TOPIK II 듣기 시험을 교육 자료로 활용하여, 학습자들은 TOPIK II 듣기 문항에서 추출한 실제 함축 사례를 통해 이론적으로는 다소 추상적이고 어렵게 느껴지는 함축 개념에 대한 쉬운 이해를 도모할 수 있다. 나아가 함축 이론을 실제 대화 분석에 적용함으로써 한국어 학습자들이 담화 해석 능력을 기르고 한국어 의사소통 능력도 높일 수 있다.
Abstract
This study analyzes dialogues from the TOPIK II Listening test based on Grice's theory of implicature, with the goal of proposing an educational plan for teaching implicature to intermediate Korean learners. A total of 42 dialogues from the 83rd, 91st, and 96th tests were analyzed, focusing on implicatures that arise from the violation of conversational maxims. The results indicate that implicatures were present in all analyzed dialogues, suggesting the potential effectiveness of using TOPIK II listening materials for teaching the theory of implicature. Based on these findings, an educational approach to teaching implicature theory is proposed. By utilizing TOPIK II listening materials as a teaching resource, learners can easily grasp the concept of implicature, which can be abstract and difficult to understand, through practical examples extracted directly from TOPIK II listening questions. Furthermore, applying implicature theory to real-life conversations can help Korean learners develop their discourse interpretation skills and improve their overall communication abilities.
