Abstract
This study aims to analyze the identity transformation of experienced Korean language teachers by integrating the Teacher Career Cycle Model (TCCM) with a narrative inquiry approach. Five Korean language teachers with over 15 years of teaching experience participated in the study. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted and qualitatively analyzed using NVivo 14. The findings reveal that the teacher identities of experienced educators are not fixed but rather dynamically reconstructed throughout their professional and personal lives. Their identity trajectories were categorized into five phases—entry, growth, stagnation, recovery, and expansion—illustrating a cyclical and fluid process rather than a linear one. In particular, the participants' experiences during the stagnation and recovery phases underscore the importance of relational recognition, reflective practice, and contextual adaptation in maintaining and re-signifying professional identity. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of teacher identity development in later career stages and offers practical and policy implications for sustaining the professional vitality of experienced Korean language educators.
