Abstract
In this paper, I explain the relation between emotions and human action. For this purpose, enactivism is applied to the explanations of emotion. According to enactivism, emotions bring into existence special kinds of properties that did not exist before having emotions, rather than representing the world. In other words, cognition is not the transcendental subject's representational cognition of a pre-given objective world, but the act of creating (or creating) the world and the mind by a being in the world with a body. In this paper, I follow the Varella tradition and focus on embodied activity about emotions. In other words, it is emphasized that emotions are felt through the lived body, not representations. I do not view emotions as brain-bound representations, as Prinz (2004) did earlier. Rather, I propose an enactivism that views emotions as emerging within the realm of interaction between the environment and the organism. To this end, while dealing with the concept of 'affordance', I do not accept Gibson's affordance, that is, affordance as a property that the environment causes the behavior of an organism. Finally, I present an alternative based on Prinz's recent theory (2018).
