This paper researched an aspect of literary movement by King Cheongjo(正祖) called “Munchepanjung(文體反正)”. Cheongjo made so many comments on literary style critically and tried to change writing style of his officials. He criticized a trend of the Essays(小品) and sought for contents and literary style of Ku-wen(古文). He sometimes made political issues about literary style. In this paper I rediscussed the facts of his comments on literary style and his literary policy. As the result, I revealed that King Cheongjo put much emphasis on practicality in official writing or systematized writing, not in private literary works.
