초록

Most of the studies dealing with Gyeyu-Jeongnan has seen that the ambitious Grand Prince Suyang(首陽大君) caused the coup in the conflict between the king and the vassals, mainly based on political history. Aside from political-historical discussions and evaluations of Gyeyu-Jeongnan, existing studies focused mainly on Grand Prince Suyang, and few studies focused on the warriors participated in the coup. And most of them were from Naegeumwi. In the early Joseon Dynasty, as the royal bodyguards escorting the kings, Naegeumwi must protect young King Danjong and his assistants, Hwang Bo-in and Kim Jong-seo. However, in the 1st year of King Danjong's reign(1453), some warriors from Naegeumwi participated in Gyeyu-Jeongnan with Grand Prince Suyang. Therefore, this thesis examines the status of the Naegeumwi and its treatment problems in connection with the political and military situation at the time, and also examines how Grand Prince Suyang established a relationship with them. In the process of increasing the number of warriors of the central army from the late King Sejong’s reign, Naegeumwi was gradually selected from among the descendants of Yang-ban(衣冠子弟), taking into account the descents, and had the highest position compared to other warriors of the central army. However, in comparison to this status, treatment problems of Naegeumwi started to occur. They were appointed to Che-a-jik(正職), or suffered personnel congestion. Of course, promotion in Dong-ban(東班) was much more difficult, but they expressed dissatisfaction by comparing them with other warriors in Seo-ban(西班), and went out to find someone who could represent their dissatisfaction. In the latter half of King Sejong's era, politically the royal relatives(宗親) reappeared on the political situations, and many people turned to Hwang Bo-in and Kim Jong-seo, as well as Grand Prince Suyang and Anpyeong(安平大君). In particular, Grand Prince Suyang, who planned a coup with Kwon Ram(權擥) and Han Myung-hoe(韓明澮), welcomed the warriors, and first actively suggested Ga-ja(加資) of the warriors who followed him as the bodyguards of diplomatic delegation to Myong(明), further promoting Bungyeong(奔競). In addition, he followed the advice of Han Myung-hoe and summoned the warriors through archery, treated them, and understood the situation, and his excellent archery skills also played a part in winning their favor. Through this, the warriors from Naegeumwi also started to interact with Grand Prince Suyang and regard him as a spokesperson. In the end, Grand Prince Suyang reported to King Danjong on September 25, the first year of King Danjong’s reign(1453) to speak for the warriors from Naegeumwi . The third content of this report, which he posted 15 days before the coup, mainly represents the situation of the central army, including Naegeumwi, and requests for improvement of their treatments. However, it reflects in detail the issue of not only Naegeumwi, but also the central and local government officials in which the warriors from Naegeumwi were appointed. Of course, the hardships of Gap-sa(갑사), Bang-pae(防牌), and Sub-yuk-sip(攝六十) were mentioned, but in terms of the mention, it can be seen that the content focuses on Naegeumwi. And through this, Grand Prince Suyang enlisted the warriors on his side and mobilized them for a coup, and they would have believed and followed him. This study can be understood Gyeyu-Jeongnan as the event that reflects the military historical context, such as the treatments and dissatisfaction of Naegeumwei, away from the framework of viewing Gyeyu-Jeongnan as a coup led by Grand Prince Suyang in a mere political historical context. If we apply this point of view to the changes in the military systems and pay more attention to the conditions of the warriors living in them, believing that research on military history in the early Joseon Dynasty will be much more diverse.

Abstract
