이 논문은 친밀성(intimacy)의 물화(Verdinglichung)를 사회철학의 관점에서 체계적으로 이론화하기 위한 토대를 마련하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 이 논문에서는다음과 같은 세 가지 작업이 수행된다. 첫째, 친밀성과 친밀 관계의 개념을 관련된 철학적, 사회학적 연구들에 기초하여 명료하게 규정하고, 그동안 친밀성 영역과 관련된 논의의 중심 개념을 이루어온 성(sexuality), 사랑(love), 가족(family)의 개념을 검토하고 각각의 한계를 살펴봄으로써 이 영역과 관련되어 있는 물화 현상의 사회철학적 분석을 위해서는 친밀성 개념이 기본 범주로 가장 적절하다는 점을 보인다. 둘째, 친밀성의 물화를 ① 주관, ② 상호주관, ③ 객관의 세 차원에서 발생하는 사회적 병리현상으로 정식화하고, 친밀 관계의 5가지 유형, 즉 ‘사랑’, ‘애정’, ‘친애’, ‘인간-동물 관계’, ‘인간-신 관계’ 중 ‘사랑’의 친밀 관계가 친밀성의 물화 과정의 핵심에 있음을 살펴본다. 셋째, 친밀성의물화에 대한 사회철학적 분석의 주요 내용을 ① 상호주관의 물화, ② 주관의 물화, ③ 객관의 물화의 세 부분으로 나누어 개괄하고, ①~③ 사이의 상호 연관을 드러낸다.
Abstract
This paper aims to lay the foundation for a systematical theorization of the reification of intimacy from a socio-philosophical perspective. To this end, this paper attempts to perform the following three tasks. First, the concepts of intimacy and intimate relationship are clarified in the light of relevant philosophical and sociological researches, and the concepts of sexuality, love, and family, which have been central to discussions related to the intimacy domain, are reviewed and their limitations are examined to show that intimacy is the most appropriate basic category for a socio-philosophical analysis on the phenomena of reification related to this domain. Second, this paper formalizes the reification of intimacy as a social pathology that occurs in three dimensions: ① subjectivity, ② intersubjectivity, and ③ objectivity, and examines five types of intimate relationships: love, affection, friendship, human-animal relationships, and human-divine relationships, with intimate relationship of love at the center of the reification process. Third, it outlines the main contents of the socio-philosophical analysis on reification of intimacy in three parts: (1) reification of intersubjectivity, (2) reification of subjectivity, and (3) reification of objectivity, and reveals the logical interconnection between (1) and (3).
