신화는 끊임없이 창조되고 덧붙여지게 마련이다. 인간과 더불어 호흡을 함께 하면서 신화 자체가 살아 있다는 증거이기도 하다. 단군조선의 경우는 당초 신화만 존재하였다. 그러다가 점진적으로 신화에서 벗어나 역사로 진입하는 데 성공했다. 여기서 우리가 냉정하게 살펴야할 요인이 있다. 단군조선의 원형이 무엇인가 하는 문제이다. 단군조선의 경우는 국가로 인정받고 있지만, 그것을 뒷받침할 수 있는 근거 자료가 존재한다고 보기는 어렵다. 우리가 현재 상정한 단군조선은 신화에서부터 출발하여 장구한 기간 동안에 만들어진 역사라는 사실이다. 이 점을 각별히 유의할 필요가 있을 것 같다.

Then he gradually broke away from myths and succeeded in entering history. There are factors here that we need to look at calmly. It is a question of what the prototype of Dangun Chosun is. The case of Dangun Chosun is recognized as a nation, but it is hard to believe that there is any evidence to support it. The fact that the Dangun Joseon, which we have now introduced, is a history that has been made for a long time, starting with the myth. This point needs special attention.
