Abstract
The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the actual condition and causes of job burnout among social welfare workers at the local government level between public and private sector social welfare workers, and to recommend some measures to alleviate job burnout. Accordingly, the research questions are specified as follows: First, what is the degree of job burnout among social welfare workers, and is there a difference between public and private sector social welfare workers? Second, what factors influence job burnout among social welfare workers, and are there differences between public and private sectors? Third, what are the administrative and policy prescriptions to mitigate job burnout among social welfare workers, and how should they differ between public and private sectors? In terms of research methods, this study used a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. In the quantitative phase, a survey was conducted and statistically analyzed among social welfare officials in the Gyeongsangbuk-do headquarters and each city and county, as well as social welfare workers in private social welfare facilities within the province. To complement the survey result, in-depth interviews were conducted with a total of 12 people-six social welfare officials and six private sector social welfare workers. The results of the survey were compared and analyzed among social welfare workers in the public and private sectors, and several measures were proposed to alleviate job burnout among social welfare workers based on the results.
