아동․청소년발달의 위험요인 및 보호요인 잠재적 유형 간 관계

초록

본 연구는 대상중심적 접근(person-centered approach)을 통해 어떤 아동․청소년이 취약한지 파악하고자 하였다. 특히 여러 요인들을 결합한 다원적 접근을 기반으로 하여 위험요인과 보호요인의 잠재적 유형 간의 관계를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 서울아동패널 1차년도와 5차년도 자료를 이용하여 잠재적 프로파일 분석(latent profile analysis)을 실행하였다. 분석결과 초등학교 4학년과 중학교 2학년 시점에서 아동․청소년이 노출된 위험요인과 보호요인의 수준에 따라 각기 다른 3-4개의 잠재적 유형으로 구분할 수 있었다. 또한 잠재적 유형간의 전이확률(transition probabilities)을 분석한 결과, 위험요인 수준이 높은 유형에 속한 아동은 보호요인이 낮은 유형에 속할 조건부 확률이 높았고, 초등학교 4학년 시기에 위험요인 수준이 높거나 보호요인 수준이 낮은 아동들은 중학교 2학년 시기에도 일관되게 상대적으로 높은 위험요인이나 낮은 보호요인 유형에 속할 조건부 확률이 높았다. 이러한 연구결과는 취약한 아동․청소년집단을 미리 파악하고 이들에게 필요한 효과적인 개입방법을 마련하기 위해 위험요인과 보호요인을 동시에 고려할 필요가 있음을 보여주고 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine relative levels of vulnerability through a person‐centered approach. Specifically, the association between typologies in risk and protective factors was explored, based on a multidimensional approach. Data were obtained from waves 1 and 5 of the Seoul Panel Study of Children (SPSC) and this study applied latent profile analysis. The results indicated that when children are in their 4th grade of elementary school and in their 2nd grade of middle school, children can be divided into three or four different typologies, depending on their exposed levels of risk and protective factors. Based upon the transition probabilities found among the typologies, a typology of children with high risk factors was found to be more likely than others with the typology of low levels of protective factors. Children in their 4th grade of elementary school with high levels of risk factors were more likely to be within the typology of high levels of risk factors when they reach the 2nd grade of middle school. Similarly, typologies in protective factors also persisted into the 2nd grade of middle school. These findings imply that both protective factors and risk factors should to be considered simultaneously in order to develop more effective intervention strategies for at risk youth.
