본 연구는 중학생의 진로성숙도를 향상시킬 수 있는 효과적인 교육지원 방안을 제안하고자 진로성숙도와 다양한 학교 및 학생 특성 변인과의 관계를 분석하였다. 특히 학생이 학교에 내재되어 있는 다층 구조를 고려하여 학생의 진로성숙도와 학교 및 학생 특성 변인과의 관계를 살펴보기 위해 한국교육종단연구 2013 4차년도 자료의 중학교 2학년 학생을 대상으로 다층경로모형을 활용해 분석하였다. 분석결과, 중학생의 진로성숙도를 향상시키기 위해서는 학교구성원들의 적극적이고 상호 협력적인 학교운영과 이에 따른 교사의 열의가 중요한 것으로 나타났으며 교사가 열의를 갖고 학생을 대하는 것이 학생의 진로성숙도를 향상시키는 중요한 요인임을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 학교의 교육과정과 진로교육의 연계 정도는 진로성숙도에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타나 현재의 교육과정과 진로교육 간의 연계 방법과 구체적인 내용을 개선할 필요가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 청소년기의 학생이 자신의 부모, 친구, 교사와 긍정적인 관계를 맺고 있을수록 자신의 진로를 선택하는 과정에서 독립적이고 주체적이게 되는 것으로 나타나 청소년기의 학생과 교류하는 다양한 사람들 간의 긍정적인 관계 유지가 중요함을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 학생이 동기부여를 외적 요인이 아닌 내적 요인에 의해 받을수록 자신의 진로를 자기주도적으로 선택하게 되는 것으로 보여 학생이 내적 요인에 의해 동기가 부여될 수 있는 방안 마련이 필요함을 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로는 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 청소년기 학생의 진로성숙도를 향상시키기 위한 방안에 대한 시사점을 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between career maturity and various school and student variables of middle school students. To do this, multilevel path analysis was applied to the second grade middle school students taken from Korean Education Longitudinal Study(KELS) 2013 data. The findings of the current study were as follows. In order to improve the career maturity of middle school students, the active and cooperative school management of the school members and the eagerness of the teachers were found to be critical factors. In addition, the eagerness of the teachers in dealing with students was found to be an important factor in improving the career maturity of students. However, the strength of the link between curriculum and career education at school did not directly affect career maturity, indicating that it is necessary to improve the linking method and details of the current curriculum and career education. Moreover, the positive relationship between adolescent students and their parents, friends, and teachers was confirmed in the way that student become more independent in the process of choosing their own career. This indicates that it is important to maintain a positive relationship between the various people and agents interacting with students during adolescence. Additionally, the more students are motivated by internal factors than external factors, the more self-directed the students are in choosing their own career paths. This I indicates that students need to be motivated by internal factors. Finally, based on the results of the current study, implications for the improvement of career maturity amongst students were also discussed.
