이 연구는 하마스가 내세우는 반유대주의의 기원과 하마스의 정체성을 살펴봄으로써 하마스의 무장 투쟁과 이스라엘-하마스 전쟁의 본질을 밝히고자 한다. 이를위해 이 연구는 반유대주의, 이슬람주의, 하마스의 모체 이집트 무슬림형제단에관한 주요 연구성과를 검토해 원래 이슬람 전통에서 반유대주의는 존재하지 않았고, 이슬람 세계에서 반유대주의는 유럽의 반유대주의와 20세기 출현한 이슬람주의가융합한 결과물이었음을 밝힌다. 그리고 하마스의 이념적 정체성을 담은 1988년규약 및 2017년 일반원칙과 정책을 분석해 하마스가 이슬람주의식 반유대주의를신봉하는 테러 단체이며, 하마스가 이스라엘과 벌이는 전쟁은 단순한 영토 분쟁이아니라 이스라엘과 전 세계 유대인이 멸절되어야만 끝나는 종교 전쟁임을 주장한다. 이 연구는 반유대주의를 주제로 하마스의 이념적 기원과 정체성을 국내 최초로고찰했다는 데 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study seeks to clarify the nature of Hamas's armed struggle and the Israel-Hamas war by examining the origins of anti-Semitism and the identity of Hamas. To do so, this study reviews the major works on anti-Semitism, Islamism, and Hamas's parent organization, Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, to show that anti-Semitism did not originally exist in the Islamic tradition, and that anti-Semitism in the Islamic world was a product of the convergence of European anti-Semitism and the Islamism that emerged in the 20th century. By analyzing the 1988 Covenant and the 2017 General Principles and Policies, which contain Hamas's ideological identity, this study argues that Hamas is a terrorist organization that believes in Islamist anti-Semitism, and that Hamas's war against Israel is not just a territorial dispute but a religious war that can only end with the destruction of Israel and the world's Jews. This study has the significance of being the first in Korea to explore the ideological origins and identity of Hamas through the theme of anti-Semitism.
