성경신학적 관점에서 본 한국교회 고난의 현주소

초록

본 연구의 목적은 현재 한국교회가 당하고 있는 고난의 원인과 의미를 성경신학적 관점에서 올바로 조명하여 이에 대한 적절한 대응책을 제시하는데 있다. 한국교회가 당하고 있는 고난의 실체를 바로 보기 위해서 먼저 성경이 가르치는 고난에 대한 전반적인 의미를 파악해보았다. 고난에 대한 성경신학적 관점은 대략 5가지로 분류되는데, 응보적 고난, 훈계적 혹은 교육적 고난, 대속적 고난, 하나님 나라를 위한 고난, 원인을 알 수 없는 고난 등이다. 응보적 고난이란 죄의 결과 받는 벌을 의미하고, 훈계적 혹은 교육적 고난은 하나님의 백성을 더욱 성숙한 자리로 이끌기 위한 고난을 의미한다. 대속적 고난은 그리스도께서 우리의 죄를 대신지신 고난을 의미하고, 하나님 나라를 위한 고난은 복음과 하나님 나라 때문에 당하는 의로운 고난을 의미한다. 원인을 알 수 없는 고난은 욥이 당한 고난처럼 이유를 알 수 없는 고난을 뜻한다. 그리스도께서 당하신 대속적 고난 외에는 상황에 따라 거의 모든 고난들이 성도들에게 공존하고 있음을 부정할 수 없다. 그렇기 때문에 연구의 구체화를 위해서 본 연구에서는 현재 한국교회 공동체가 당하는 신뢰도 상실, 조롱과 멸시, 교세의 하락과 같은 고난의 원인이 무엇인가에 초점을 맞추었다. 이런 고난의 원인에 대한 다른 요인을 배제할 수는 없지만, 현재 한국교회가 겪고 있는 이런 고난의 주된 요인으로 최근 사회적인 물의를 일으킨 4가지를 뽑아보았다. 교회세습 문제, 성추행 문제, 헌금유용 문제, 그리고 표절과 대필의 문제가 주된 요인들이다. 이런 문제들의 배경에는 세속주의, 교회의 사유화, 배금주의, 집단이기주의, 절제되지 않은 성적 욕망, 권력욕, 헛된 명예욕 등이 도사리라고 있다. 이런 죄악들은 특히 십계명의 여러 계명들을 다중으로 범하는 죄악들임을 밝혔다. 고난에 대한 성경신학적 관점에서 보면, 현재 한국교회가 당하고 있는 고난은 이런 죄악들로 인해 당하는 다분히 ‘응보적 고난’임을 부정할 수 없다. 이에 대한 치유책은 철저한 회개가 선행되어야 하고, 아울러 십계명의 제3의 용도로서의 의미를 잘 깨달아 하나님을 뜻을 이루는 진정한 마음의 개혁이 동반되어야 한다.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to investigate the causes and meaning of the sufferings that the Korean Church faces now and thereby to suggest a proper countermeasure to overcome the problems. First, the study attempts to grasp the overall teachings of the “sufferings” that the Bible refers to in order to correctly evaluate the reality of the sufferings that the Korean Church encounters. The biblical-theological perspectives of the sufferings are classified into the five categories: the retributive suffering, the disciplinary and educative suffering, the vicarious suffering, the suffering for the Kingdom of God, and the mysterious suffering brought about by an unknown cause. The retributive suffering means suffering resulting from divine punishment because of one’s sin. The disciplinary and educative suffering represents God-given suffering which helps to guide His people to grow spiritually. The vicarious suffering is the suffering that Christ went through for our sin. The suffering for the Kingdom of God is the righteous suffering for the gospel and the Kingdom of God. The mysterious suffering brought about by an unknown cause is like the suffering Job went through without knowing its origin. Besides the vicarious suffering Christ went through, it is undeniable that God’s people experience almost all types of sufferings depending on their situations. To specify the concrete issues, therefore, this study intentionally focuses on the causes of the sufferings the community of the Korean Church faces now such as the loss of its credibility, people’s mockery and contempt against it, and the decline of its growth. Though there may be other variables in our sufferings, the main causes of sufferings that the Korean Church has gone through recently would be the four problems which have drawn the social concerns in our society. The main problems are church leadership promotions amongst family members, sexual harassment, misuse of church money, plagiarism and ghostwriting. Behind these problems lie the spirit of secularism, privatization of the church, mammonism, corporate greed, uncontrolled sexual desire, desire for power, and desire for fame. These sins are very serious transgressions, which break many points of the Ten Commandments. From the biblical-theological perspectives of the sufferings, it would be undeniable that the sufferings the Korean Church faces now are the sufferings mostly brought about by divine punishment (retributive) because of these sins. This paper will address the following solution: wholehearted repentance accompanied by a true transformation of the heart to fulfill God’s will by understanding the meaning of the third use of the law.
