본 연구는 우리사주조합 가입이 종업원보상에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이를 위해, 기존에 보고된 종업원보상과 관련된 다양한 변수들 이외에도 우리사주제도 도입기업의 또 다른 재무적 특성을 나타내는 현금제약변수와 제도적 특성을 나타내는 소유구조 및 지배구조 등의 변수를 차례로 감안한 다변량회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 우리사주조합 가입에 따른 종업원지분율 증가는 종업원보상에 유의적인 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 현금제약에 처하지 않은 대규모 장수기업이나 대주주지분율이 높은 기업에서는 우리사주조합 가입이 종업원보상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 외국인지분율과 경영자지분율 및 이사회크기 등의 변수와 종업원지분율과도 일정한 조절효과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
We empirically examine the effect of ESOPs(Employee Stock Ownership Plans) on employee wages. Using 148 Korean firms adopted ESOPs during 2011~2012, we perform multivariate regression analysis over the period of 2009~2014. We find that ESOPs have a little significant effect on employee wages. Instead, sales, firm size, and operating income to total assets have a highly significant effect on employee wages. According to the analysis results of cash constrained ESOP firms, the CCindex shows a significant positive coefficient, indicating ESOPs adoptions by large and old firms are followed by increase in employee wages. However, according to the analysis results of ownership & governance structured ESOP firms, only large shareholder’s holding shows a positive significant coefficient, but foreigner shareholder’s holding, managerial ownership, and board size show no significant coefficient. On the other hand, the interaction terms of foreigner shareholder’s holding and ESOPs, managerial ownership and ESOPs, board size and ESOPs show a significant coefficient respectively.
