일본 도쿄 지역 역사 연구의 동향과 특성

Abstract

This thesis briefly summarized the current status of relevant agencies taking in charge of the preservation of official documents and the compilation of historical records in Tokyo, and also the remarkable research results of urban history of Tokyo since the 2000s. First, in case of Tokyo, after the new implementation of regional management system in 1943, the administrative documents that used to be possessed by Tokyo Prefecture and Tokyo City were managed syntagmatically, and the current frame of organization and system for managing the official documents handled by the Archives of Tokyo Metropolis has been established. In the results, in spite of the administrative changes of Tokyo Prefecture, Tokyo City, and Tokyo Metropolis, the Great Kanto Earthquake, and the World War II, the Archives of Tokyo Metropolis has preserved about more than 200,000 pieces of records and publications so far. The remarkable results of researches on Edo/Tokyo since the 2000s are as follows. First, it is the results of the transition from a traditional city to a modern city. Second, it is the transition from the understanding of segmental 'space' of Jokamachi Edo to the researches on territorial 'region'. Third, it is the in-depth researches on individual places composing the city. Just like the researches on Edo/Tokyo with a long history for about 100 years have been developed in the close relationship with the innovative self-government movement of urban region, instead of simple empirical academic researches, the researches on Seoul studies would be able to reveal the stories in the history of Hanseong, Gyeongseong, and Seoul, and the spatial characteristics of a megalopolis Seoul, and also to contribute to the popularization of historical studies.
