초록

This study will compare collocation forms of noun "Telephone" in Korean and Japanese language. Considering that Korean expression "jeonhwa-reul batda(receive a call)" corresponds to various Japanese expressions such as “denwa-ni deru”,“denwa-wo ukeru”, “denwa-wo morau”, “denwa-wo toru”, this article contemplated on synonymity of these four forms. As a result, it is proven that those four forms are at times mutually replaceable as a collocation. However, in some cases they were unreplaceable due to the grammatical and semantic difference each verb has. For instance, "deru" and "toru" in Japanese have no synonymical relationship with Korean "batda". Neither "ukeru" nor "morau". But if they are combined with noun "denwa" in Japanese, they make a sentence meaning "receive a call", so that they become synonyms. Throughout this study, we acknowledge that if ‘collocation’, not a single word,is set as an unit of analysis one can find out various forms of expression in Japanese language. Also, this study reconfirms the importance of collocation approach by unveiling grammatical difference of those four Japanese forms.
