자신의 이상을 현실적으로 실천하는 방안으로써 무사노코지 사네아츠는, 아타라시키무라(새마을)를 창설하였고, 아리시마 다케오는 그의 농장을 해방하였다. 아리시마의 농장 해방 사상은 합의제와 상호 부조정신, 또한 국가마저 상대화하는, 당시로서는 시대에 너무 앞선 복지사회의 새로운 규범이기도 하였다. 그리고 가리부토를 무대로 한 그의 이상의 좌절은 그를 고뇌로부터 동반자살이라는 비극으로 기울어가게 하였다. 아타라시키무라로부터의 이촌을 결행한 무사노코지 사네아츠도 이상과 현실의 괴리에 괴로워하고 있었다. 아니, 이상에 밀리고 현실을 잃은 것은 아닐까. 어쨌든 현재의 마을사람들은, 경제적 어려움과 함께, 회원의 감소와 고령화 현상 등, 극복 방안을 모색해야 할 시기에 이르렀다. 농업 생산자가 아닌 이 두문학자는 마을과 농장을 매개로 사회 개혁의 이상을 꿈꾸었지만, 그 과정과 결과는 크게 차이가 난다. 그것은 7년간 마을에서생활한 사람과 단지 10회 농장을 방문한 사람, 창설자와 피상속자의 차이, 그리고 개인의 특질 등에서 기인한다고 생각된다. 같은 시라카바파였지만 이 미묘하게 다른 배경과 이념의 차이로 그들의 이질적 거리감은 멀게 느껴진다. 각각그들의 공동체가 있었던 큐슈에서 홋카이도만큼.
Abstract
The Emancipation Proclamation of ARISHIMA farm was the new norm in thetime of the parliamentary system and of the mutual aid -- albeit that came too fast. The turndown from the ideal in the stage of GARIBUTO led him from torture totragedy. MUSHANOKOJI SANEATS who set his mind to depart from hisATARASHIKIMURA was suffering from the gap between the ideal and the real. Or was he losing the reality, left undone from the ideal? Anyhow, the people ofthe New Village had to seek for solution to overcome the problems of economiccrisis, corporate body, decreasing the number of members, and the elderly society. Although two literary men, not agricultural producers, dreamed social reform, theirjourney and ends differ to a great extent. One lived in the New Village for sevenyears while another merely visited the farm ten times; one was the establisher whileanother was a predecessor; also they had different personal characteristics as analyzedthrough the literary work. Even though they were in the same of SHIRACABA group,their distance may have been as far as that from Kyushu to Hokkaido.
