知的認識動詞の有情物主語受身文における 使用場面の特徴 - 「V-られる」の形態論的な性質に注目して -

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to consider the conditions on the usage-in- context on passive sentences which involve verbs of cognition such as shiru, satoru, and kizuku. We divide passive sentences involving verbs of cognition into three types. Type A. [hito-ga hito-ni NP-wo V-rareru] (Taro-ha Hanako-ni kokoronodoyo-wo shi-rareru) Type B. [hito-ga hito-ni ∼to V-rareru] (Taro-ha Hanako-ni usowotsuita-to shi-rareru) Type C. [hito-ga hito-ni NP-ni V-rareru] (Taro-ha (Hanako-ni) naiteirukoto-ni kizuk- areru) In most cases, events which are described in passive sentences are considered as “bad situation” for the referent of a subject NP of the passive sentences. This can be clearly judged from the syntactic features of the construction, such as the morphological properties of V-rareru and the content of the main clause. Passive sentences of Type A frequently appear in the form of V- rare-takunai, V-rare-naiyouni, and V- rare-rumai. This feature is similar to the characteristics of indirect passives, and it can be seen relatively clearly through the syntactic form in the case of passive sentences involving verbs of cognition.
