이 연구는 근, 현대 인도종교의 전개양상과 성격을 19세기에 등장한 종교, 사회 개혁운동과 20세기에 전개된 힌두 근본주의 운동을 중심으로 분석하는, 3차로 구성된 연구의 두 번째 연구이다. 1차 연구에서는 19세기 종교-사회 개혁운동 가운데 대표적인 세 운동인 브라흐모 사마즈, 아리야 사마즈 그리고 라마끄리슈나 운동의 초기 형성기를 중심으로 근대 인도종교의 전개양상과 성격을 살펴보았다. 이번 2차 연구에서는 세 운동의 형성기 이후 전개과정과 현 활동상황을 살펴보고 이를 토대로 세 운동이 종교운동으로서 성공 또는 실패를 하게 된 요인을 분석하고 이를 통해 힌두교와 힌두 정서의 중요한 특성을 분석해 내고 있다.
Abstract
This Study is the second article of the 3-year-research project which aims to understand the religious situation within the context of the political and social changing process in modern India. In first article we analyzed the character of the religio-social reform movements in 19th century India. They are Brahmo Samaj, Arya Samaj and Ramakrishna Movement. In this second article we are dealing with the developing process after first establishing period and the present situation of these three religious movements. and analyzing the factors of success or failure as the religious movement in India.
