초록
In this paper, we present an ontological method of linguistic typology by considering, as an example, the words used to express the concept of ‘taste’. We first review some psychological views on ‘taste’ and then examine the word nets of English, German, Japanese, and Korean. From this review, we propose an ontology of the ‘taste’ domain, and link the senses of English and Korean with the concepts of the proposed ontology. From the results, we draw some noteworthy conclusions with respect to the distributional differences between English and Korean.
Abstract
In this paper, we present an ontological method of linguistic typology by considering, as an example, the words used to express the concept of ‘taste’. We first review some psychological views on ‘taste’ and then examine the word nets of English, German, Japanese, and Korean. From this review, we propose an ontology of the ‘taste’ domain, and link the senses of English and Korean with the concepts of the proposed ontology. From the results, we draw some noteworthy conclusions with respect to the distributional differences between English and Korean.
