최근 문화를 통한 전통시장 활성화에 대한 관심이 커지면서 지역사회의 활성화와 재개발에 대한 논의가 진행 중에 있다. 이러한 논의의 한 축으로 미술교육이 지역사회의 발전에 어떠한 역할을 할 수 있는가를 가늠하기 위한 시도로 사회참여 미술교육 관점에서 ‘지역사회 활성화를 위한 전통시장 프로젝트’는 개발되었다. 이 논문은 다양한 문화예술 교육정책의 일환 으로 전통시장 활성화를 미술교과 교수학습방법에 접목시켜 학생들이 직접 사회참여 미술활동을 실행한 사례연구로 침체된 전통시장의 활성화를 위한 문화적 접근으로 학습자나 지역시민들 및 시장 상인들이 함께 공감하고 참여할 수 있는 프로그램 을 통해 재능기부의 의미와 지역사회와의 소통을 보여준다. 이 프로젝트에서는 전통시장 고유의 문화전통을 유지하면서 재능 기부 및 봉사학습을 통한 지역사회 활성화를 도모하기 위해 관광자원으로서의 시장의 가치를 극대화 할 수 있는 미술활동을 모색하고자 한다.
Abstract
Recently, with the increased interest in revitalizing traditional markets through cultural activities, discussions regarding revitalization and redevelopment of local communities are in progress. In line with such discussions, this project commenced from a socially engaged art education perspective in order to understand the contribution of art education in local community development. This research is a case study where students directly participated in socially engaged art activities which combined teaching methods of art classes as a means of revitalizing traditional markets, supported by national funds as part of the diverse culture and art education policy. This research examines the meaning of talent donation and communication through a cultural program that involves students, locals, and shop owners. This project also aims to explore art activities which maximize the value of the market as a tourism resource through talent donation and service learning while maintaining the inherent cultural traditions of markets.
