The purpose of this study is to examine the errors in the consonants of Korean sounds of Korean-Chinese children around the school age, and to identify how the errors in consonants of children from multicultural families were influenced by the phonological system of Chinese language, the mother language of Chinese mothers. As a result, Korean children show fewer stop consonants than multicultural children, and 7-year-old children of multicultural families show more stop consonants than 9-year-old multicultural children. And it was found to be correlated with Chinese mothers' proficiency in Korean. In other words, the lower the Chinese mother's proficiency in Korean, the higher the error in the stop consonants of children from multicultural families. Children from multicultural families have difficulty discriminating and pronouncing the stop sounds.
