Abstract
Under the current wave of globalism, engineering programs in Korea are determined to adopt the Accreditation System for Engineering Education, which is inevitable to acquire competitiveness in the world market. For the engineering students who want to pursue their career as internationally qualified engineers, a development of ESP course tailored for them is needed. The job description on the engineering fields can be collected on O'NET(Occupational Information Network) which describes and defines what kinds of abilities are needed for various workers, including engineers. Mechanical engineer type is selected for the research and 17 abilities are listed to be the most needed abilities which are over 50% in importance score and 6 language related abilities are included among them. Then a technical English syllabus is designed to reflect the skills and abilities needed on the job sites in the frame of the Accreditation System for the Engineering Education by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea.
