Abstract
This study was to evaluate the effects of motor imagery training to improve on balance ability in chronic stroke subjects. The motor imagery training was performed that imagery movement of normal gait. Participants were randomly allocated to two groups: experimental(n=13) and control(n=11). Both groups received treadmill training for 3 session 30 minutes per week during 6 weeks. Experimental group practiced additional motor imagery training. Results were evaluated by static balance, dynamic balance. The results of study were as follows: There were significantly increased by motor imagery training in outcomes of the static balance (p<.05). There were significantly increased by motor imagery training that outcomes of the dynamic balance from functional reach test, timed up and go test(p<.05). In conclusion, the motor imagery training improves static balance, dynamic balance. These results suggest that motor imagery training is feasible and suitable for individuals with a chronic stroke.
