Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of visual feedback training integrated mental practice on the balance function and walking ability of hemiplegia. 30 patients with hemiplegia were divided into two groups– experiment group(EG) of 15 people, control group(CG) of 15 people - were conducted. The two groups received visual feedback Training for 30 minutes, once a day, 5 times a week, for 6 weeks. The EG was additionally conducted which was performed mental practice for 10 minutes. The evaluation of this study were dynamic balance and static balance test, time up and go test, 6 minute walking test, berg balance test. Outcome measurements were before and after a 6-week training. We found significant differences for the dynamic balance and static balance test, time up and go test, 6 minute walking test, berg balance test between pretest and post-test in the 2 groups (p<0.05). Also, the dynamic balance and static balance test, time up and go test, 6 minute walking test, berg balance test were significantly different between the groups at groups at post-test (p<0.05). The findings of this study suggest that visual feedback training plus mental practice can improve balance function and walking ability in patient of hemiplegia. Further studies with a greater sample size and a longer intervention period, including the follow-up period, are needed to generalize the findings of the present study.
