Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare the emotion recognition between children with ADHD and normal children. The subjects of the study were 96 children with ADHD, who were in the first to the sixth grade of elementary school and 64 normal children. The Computerized Facial Morphing Task was adopted to measure their emotion recognition. Independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA were performed, and Scheffé test was used for post-hoc analysis. The findings of the study were summarized as follows: First, there was differences in the emotion recognition between children with ADHD and normal children. Regarding the Facial Morphing Task, children with ADHD showed lower recognition than normal children. Second, both of ADHD and normal children showed the best recognition on the emotion of joy, while the worst on the emotion of fear.Third, there were no differences in the emotion recognition between ADHD children with and without taking medication. From the above results, it was discussed that contents related emotion recognition should be included in the education program for children with ADHD.
