작업치료전공 대학생의 스페셜 올림픽 유아선수 프로그램 자원봉사에 대한 현상학적 연구

본 연구의 목적은 발달장애 유아를 대상으로 하는 스페셜올림픽코리아 유아선수 프로그램의 자원봉사에 참여한 작업치료 전공 대학생의 경험을 알아보는 것으로 7명이 연구에 참여하였다. 심층 개별 면담을 통해 얻은 원자료는 현상학적 방법으로 분석하였고, 원자료를 분석한 결과 84개의 세부적 의미 단위, 6개의 주요의미, ‘참여 동기’, ‘전문 의식’, ‘힐링과 성찰’등 3개의 주제를 도출하였다. 자원봉사 프로그램에 참여한 동기는 다양한 경험 축적과 취업과 진로 탐색을 위한 것이었다. 참여자들은 자원봉사활동과 전공을 연결하여 생각하게 되면서 작업치료 전공에 대한 자부심을 느꼈다. 또한 주체성을 가지고 프로그램 자원봉사자 역할을 했으며, 그것을 통해 기쁨을 느꼈고, 자기를 성찰하고 무엇을 개선할지를 고민하였다. 보건의료 전공 대학생들은 전공 관련 자원봉사를 통해 전공에 대한 자부심, 학습 동기, 진로 탐색의 효과를 얻을 수 있고, 이후 전문가로서 클라이언트에게 서비스 제공에 자원봉사의 경험이 긍정적으로 작용할 것으로 보인다. 특히 개인에게 역할과 책임이 분명하게 주어지는 경우 그 효과가 클 것으로 생각된다. 작업치료와 같은 보건의료 전공 대학생가 예비 전문가로서 역할을 할 수 있는 질 높은 자원봉사의 기회를 제공하는 것이 중요하며, 이를 위한 기초자료로 본 연구의 결과를 활용하고자 한다.
Abstract
This study aims to examine the experiences that university students majoring in occupational therapy had as they did volunteer work at Special Olympics Korea Young Athlete program. A total of seven students participated in this study, and individual in-depth interviews were conducted. The source data were analyzed using a phenomenological method. As a result of analyzing, 84 detailed units of meaning were derived and categorized into six major meanings and three themes; motivation for participation, professionals awareness, and healing and reflection. The benefits students majoring in health care can get through volunteer work in major-related areas will be larger when a clear role and responsibilities are imposed. Therefore it is important to provide university students majoring in health care, with opportunities to do quality volunteer work in which they can play roles as future experts. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as preliminary data for that.
