본 연구는 K지역 4년제 대학의 특수교육과에 입학한 대학 신입생들의 특수학교에서의 자원봉사 경험의 의미를 이해하기 위한 것이다. 본 연구는 특수교육전공 대학 신입생들이 특수교육 현장에서 봉사활동을 하게 된 과정에서부터, 봉사활동의 내용, 그리고 봉사활동을 통해 그들이 경험하게 된 의미에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구를 위해, 특수교육과에 입학이후 3개월 동안 특수학교 중·고등학교 학급에서 자원봉사 경험이 있는 신입생 7명을 대상으로 포커스그룹 면담을 실시하였으며, 이를 질적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 자원봉사에 대한 기대와 실제 신입생들의 역할, 신입생으로서 자원봉사 경험을 통한 이점, 신입생으로서 자원봉사 경험에서 어려운 점, 담임교사의 자원봉사자에 대한 태도, 특수교육전공 신입생으로서 자원봉사 경험을 통한 고민, 그리고 보다 나은 자원봉사를 위한 신입생들의 요구라는 여섯 가지 주제가 도출되었다. 이러한 여섯 가지 주제를 기반으로 논의와 제언을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The study investigated the meaning of the voluntary experiences in a special school of university freshmen who were majoring in special education in a 4-year university in K city. The study focused on the reasons of voluntary work in a special school, types of voluntary work, and meanings of the voluntary experiences for themselves. The study included 7 university freshmen who volunteered in a special school for 3 months, and the study implemented focus group interviews with the freshmen. Then, the interview data were analyzed qualitatively. In results, the study showed the six themes including the expectation and real roles on voluntary work, the benefits of the voluntary work, the difficulty of the voluntary work, the attitude of class teachers, the new consideration through the voluntary work, and the needs for the better voluntary work. Based on the results of the study, the discussion and suggestions were mentioned.
