학습장애학생 어머니들이 양육대처과정에서 겪는 사회 심리적 어려움: 의료인 면담의 주제분석을 중심으로

본 연구는 학습장애학생 어머니들이 자녀의 양육대처과정에서 겪는 사회 심리적 어려움을 의료인의 면담 주제분석을 통해 이해하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 질문은 “어머니들이 자녀의 학습장애 진단 이전과 진단, 진단 이후의 양육대처과정에서 겪는 사회 심리적 어려움은 어떠한가?” 이다. 본 연구는 주제분석방법(Braun & Clarke, 2006)으로 수행한 질적연구이다. 연구 참여자는 학습장애 의료경험이 있으며, 자녀의 학습장애 진단과 치료에 있어 이들 어머니들과 상담한 경험이 있는 소아청소년정신과 전문의 4인을 선정하였다. 연구 자료는 대부분 면담(개별/포커스그룹)을 통해 수집하였으며, 주제분석방법에 따라 면담내용을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 어머니들은 학령기 자녀의 학습장애 진단 이전부터, 진단 이후 조치에 이르기까지 학교와 병원의 양육대처과정에서 ‘이중고’에 시달리고 있었으며, 심각한 ‘예민함’과 ‘부정적인’ 양육 태도를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 의료인이 학교와 병원을 바라보는 관점에서 어머니들이 학습장애자녀 양육대처과정에서 겪는 사회 심리적 어려움을 이해한 연구로서 시사점을 가진다.

Abstract

This study was to understand the mothers’ psychosocial difficulties in rearing coping process of their school-aged children with LD through the thematic analysis of the medical doctor interview. The study question was “What are the mothers’ psychosocial difficulties in the rearing coping process of their children with LD before, during, and after diagnosis of disability?” This study used the thematic analysis method (Braun & Clarke, 2006) as qualitative research. Four medical doctors (pediatric psychiatrists) participated in this study, who have experience in the LD medical treatment and have consulted with these mothers in diagnosing and treating their children's LD. The data were collected primarily through interviews (individual/focus group). The interview contents were analyzed by the thematic analysis method.The result showed that the mothers suffer from 'double trouble', significant 'sensitive', and 'negative' attitude in rearing coping processes at school and in the hospital before, during, and after diagnosis of disability. This study has implications as a study that understands the mothers’ psychosocial challenges in rearing coping processes of their children with LD from the perspective of medical doctors towards schools and hospitals.
