Abstract
This study aims to thoroughly understand the lives of fathers who have lost their children to pediatric cancer by examining their post-bereavement experiences through narrative inquiry. Data were collected from two participants over the course of seven months through conversations, social media interactions, and phone interviews. The findings revealed that fathers who have lost their children to pediatric cancer faced emotional memories, resentment towards the world, disconnection from people around them, and occasional bouts of depression. Within their life stories, the meanings derived from their experiences included empowering memories, a renewed sense of responsibility as a provider, strengthened family bonds, and a shift in perspective that included a hope of reunion. The significance of this study lies in its contribution to a deeper understanding of the lives of fathers who have lost their children to pediatric cancer, providing valuable insights for developing effective bereavement support strategies for future use.
