초록
This paper analyzes the change in the meaning of Taiwan’s anti-communist patriots during the Cold War. After the outbreak of the Korean War, the Taiwanese national government successfully brought 14,000 Chinese prisoners of war to Taiwan and converted them into anti-communist patriots, in order to restore the damaged legitimacy of governance and make Taiwan an anti-commuist country in East Asia. In the 1960s and 1970s, continental refugees and aircraft defectors became the new anti-communist patriots. In the 1980s, as the economic link between China and Taiwan was deepened, the political value of anti-communist patriots was reduced in Taiwan. In particular, the institutional basis for anti-communist patriots disappeared due to the democratization of Taiwan and the Taiwanization of the ROC(the Republic of China). After allowing their visits to their mainland hometowns in 1987, anti-communist patriots began to remove their tattoos by themselves, which meant the political death of anti-communist doctors who have been the subject of the Cold War in Taiwan.
