초록

In this article, after analyzing the appointment of Northern Dynasties for the Three Kingdoms, I interpreted in relation to the entire appointments of Northern Dynasties, and examined the diplomatic response of the Three Kingdoms to the appointment of Northern Dynasties. In summary, it is as follows. Although there were a small number, appointments of Dongwei(東魏) and Beiqi(北齊) to Goguryeo was based on the friendly relations between the two countries since the Beiwei(北魏), which was due to the succession of the throne or the establishment of new dynasty. On the other hand, appointments of Beiqi to Baekje and Silla were temporary, due to new tributes, and the same was true for the appointment of Beizhou(北周) to Goguryeo. In terms of appointment title, the General title was generally elevated and the Chijie(持節) title was often given, but Duduzhujunshi(都督諸軍事) title, central government official, local government official, military officer, and Sanguan(散官) were rarely given. The gradual increase in the number of cases in which the appointment to Three Kingdoms do not have the General title is consistent with the decreasing trend of the proportion of the General title in the appointment title of the Northern Dynasties. The fact that Duduzhujunshi, local government official, and Sanguan were rarely given in the appointment to the Three Kingdoms is consistent with the tendency that these appointment titles are mainly seen in the Xiwei(西魏) and Beizhou and not in Dongwei and Beiqi. However, conferring the Chijie(持節) title was a special phenomenon because it was only seen in appointments of Dongwei and Beiqi to the Three Kingdoms. The fact that the central government official and military officer were rarely given to appointments of the Three Kingdoms was a special phenomenon, contrary to the high proportion of the two in the appointments of Dongwei and Beiqi. The Three Kingdoms' response to appointments of Northern Dynasties was a sensitive reaction to the situation in mainland China, but they had a strong intention to actively use the Northern Dynasties based on their own judgment on the situation. The reason why the Three Kingdoms were able to respond by their own intention without being dragged along by the Northern Dynasties' intention was that competition between the dynasties to secure sponsoring power was fierce due to the division between the East and the West in the northern China.
