백제는 남조와는 오랫동안 친밀한 외교관계를 유지한 반면 북조와는 정세의 변화와 더불어 끊임없이 변화하는 양상을 보여 주었다. 본고는 백제와 북조 사이의 상호인지 및 국제적인 위상문제를 분석하고 두 나라 관계를 이해하는데 중점을 두고자 했다. 백제는 남북조의 북위, 북제, 북주, 수나라 등 북방왕조와 외교관계를 설정하였는데 목적과 주동성이 서로 달랐다. 북위시대의 사신파견은 순수로 군사 및 지원요청을 목적으로, 거절을 당하게 되면 상호 관계를 끊어버렸다. 그러나 북제, 북주, 수나라시대에는 외교적 곤경을 타파하고 동아시아 정세의 변화에 대응하려는 주동적인 특점이 강하였다. 백제와 북주, 수나라의 외교는 과거 고구려, 신라와의 경쟁을 전제로 이어졌고 아울러 북조정권의 교체와 시국의 변화에 대응하는 주동성을 체현하였다. 그 후로 수가 북주를 대체하자 백제는 처음으로 수나라에 사신을 보내 적극적인 외교관계를 전개하였다. 백제와 북조의 관계는 상술한 정통성관념과 문화적인 지탱이 부족하고 정국의 변화에 따른 정치 및 군사적 측면의 실용주의 외교였다. 북조의 국제질서 속에서 차지하는 백제의 위상은 시국적인 요소의 영향을 많이 받았다고 볼 수 있다.
Abstract
Division of Southern-Northern Dynasties in China, which resulted in the international order had not been able to form a center, thus on the ideas of surrounding countries lack adequate force, but also more diplomatic options for these countries. At the same time, the pattern of the three kingdoms tripartite confrontation in the Korean Peninsula also made the three kingdoms on the processing of foreign relations, always around their environment to select the object. During this period, Baekje kept long-term close contacts with southern Dynasties, on the other hand, its relationship with the northern Dynasties was different as the change of the situations. This article revolved around the relationship between Baekje and northern Dynasties. Firstly, analysed the changes of relationship with BeiWei BeiQi BeiZhou and Sui Dynasty. Secondly, discussed the influence of the Korean Peninsula’s situation on the relationship between Baekje and Northern Dynasties. Finally, discussed the mutual cognition of Baekje and Northern Dynasties and the status of Baekje in the Northern Dynastie’s international order, so as to achieve the deeper understanding on the relationship between Baekje and Northern Dynasties.
