Abstract
This paper aimed to review the description of the Samil Movement and the use of educational materials in the newly introduced 2022 revised high school Korean history textbook in 2025, which marked the 80th anniversary of liberation, and to suggest alternatives to this. As 2019 passed, the 100th anniversary of the March 1st Movement, there was a great innovation in the research environment and research results of the March 1st Movement, and these results were consistently reflected in the 2022 revised high school Korean history textbook. However, there were some regrets. Approaches to female independence activists remained more sacrificial than gender perspectives, and there was a lack of specific use such as other interrogative data or GIS, as well as the focus on the superficial use of infographics in the Samil Movement database. The description of Korean history textbooks should be improved in the direction of highlighting the historical importance of the Samil Movement from the recently raised democratic perspective.
