일본 고등학교 검정교과서 ‘역사총합’의식민지기 한국 관련 기술 내용 검토 －3･1운동과 관동대지진을 중심으로－

Abstract

This article compares and examines the narrative on the Korean history-related descriptions in Japanese high school textbook "History Synthesis (rekisi sougou)" published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in March 2021. I have examined the comprehensive history textbook by examining the curriculum guidelines and explanations which are newly applied to the textbook. I have examined the revised national curriculum, the features and the problems of new textbooks by focusing on the descriptions which are relating to the March 1st movement and the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake massacres in modern Korean history. By investigating the Korean history-related description in the newly revised Japanese "History Synthesis" textbook, the Korean-related history descriptions were reduced in general, and the explanations on the colonial rule of Japanese imperialism was also simplified. Regarding the March 1 Independence Movement, it is difficult for the readers to understand the background and the course of the movement history as well as the consequences of the Japanese imperial government's "Cultural policy (bunkaseiji)". Furthermore, in case of the Great Kanto Earthquake Massacres, out of a total 12 different newly revised textbooks, the number of Korean victims and the general descriptions of the slaughter of Koreans by Japanese are also vaguely described in the textbook. There are also quantitative decrease of the new subjects in the "History Synthesis (rekisi sougou)" textbook because of the Japanese government's new policy integratiing the world history text book into the Japanese history textbook. There are several changes on the format and contents of the Japanese history textbook because there are some different opinions raised particularly by the pro government political group. There are series of educational "reforms" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan which has tried to revise and to change the national history textbook curriculum for many years It can be said that such "reforms" by the Japanese Ministry of Education was heavily influenced by the historical revisionist forces who were pro government group in the politics. The textbook publishers are also now generally following the government's textbook policies and the standardization of the textbook format and contents which will bring the serious concern and obstacles in terms of overcoming the historical conflict between Korea and Japan in the future.
