Abstract

The garden fair, which is held in various local governments with the Suncheon International Garden Expo is divided into artist garden and citizen student garden, and the garden is being created. In addition, although the planting design considering the four seasons is necessary because it is often preserved differently from overseas garden expositions, the most important factor of gardening, such as the opening period of the fair seems to be lacking in the planting design, which is the most important factor of gardening. This study was conducted to investigate the planting trends the firearms and phenomena of the introduced plants and the planting methods of the seven model gardens selected for the second year of the Cheongju Gardening Festival in order to draw implications for the garden planting design. As a result of analyzing species flowering period and planting method of introduced plants based on the planting plan and field survey of each garden the number of trees introduced by each garden was greatly different and selection of species considering the time of the fair was universal. The difference in number of species in trees was caused by lack of understanding of plants and reduction of construction costs, and the selection of species by season was the result of the intention to maximize the image during the holding period due to the concentration of species flowering in spring and summer considering that the event time was from late May to early June. Based on the above results, it was found that it is necessary to develop a examination manual and strengthen the examination of the planting in order to improve the planting design of the garden exposition in Korea.
