초록
Unlike object numeral quantifiers (NQs), subject numeral quantifiers are known not to be stranded after scrambling of their host DPs. Viewing subject NQs as anaphoric remnants, this paper claims that subject NQs must find their host DPs locally with no potential interveners in the domain. This view not only well-handles some problematic examples arising from Ko's (2007) Cyclic Linearization but also nicely covers otherwise bizarre construal patterns noted by several researchers (Haig 1980, Nakanishi 2003, 2004). At the same time, this paper reemphasizes intervener's role in a movement process, the observation well-documented since Rizzi (1990).
