The goal of this paper is to explore the structure of extended nominal projections in Korean and investigate restrictions on which material within the Numeral Classifier (NC) constructions can undergo scrambling. I argue that different orderings of NC constructions result from massive phrasal movements that take place within DP. I also present the novel argument that the restriction on subextraction out of the NC constructions can be explained under a theory of Cyclic Linearization (CL, henceforth) (Fox & Pesetsky 2005 and Ko 2007) and its interaction with syntactic internal constraints such as Condition on Extraction Domains (CED) (Huang 1982, Uriagereka 1999) and anti-locality (Abels 2004). Furthermore, I argue that DPs are phases and hence the linear order established within DP must be preserved in the higher phasal domain (i.e., CP). In this way, the differences in the well-formedness of NC scrambling constructions in Korean provide further evidence for the theory of CL.
