경남북 접경 지역 방언의 성조 연구

초록

This research aims to analyze the data of local dialects collected among 11 different local regions around northern and southern borderlines of Gyeongsang province and to describe the tonal system found from the analysis in comparison and contrast. The result clearly shows that there are consistent tonal differences among regions along the horizontal and vertical axes of Gyeongsang province, and that the tonal changes of these dialects aim at certain directions. Some remarkable and interesting clues are revealed through the analysis. Firstly, toneme and tonal patterns in Geochang, Ulsan and Hapcheon dialects in South Gyeongsang area have Rising tone, which shows an identical ‘말(語)’-class tonal pattern to the one found in North Gyeongsang dialects. Another interesting discovery is that Miryang dialect in South Gyeongsang shows some transitional aspects in the tonal system. Additionally, some distinctive tonal patterns are analyzed not only in ‘말(語)’-class and ‘말(斗)’-class but in ‘말(馬)’-class in all local regions around the borderlines. It is also found that the tonal pattern ‘/HnL/[Ln-1HL]’ has accent preferably on the penultimate syllable

Abstract
