초록
This paper focuses on Spanish L2 learners’ use of Spanish clitics in a cluster composed of dative clitic and accusative clitic as arguments of a ditransitive verb. When atonic personal pronouns are treated in Spanish grammar education, it has been concentrated on their form and the order between dative clitic and accusative clitic. In fact, there are restrictions on combinations of clitics in clusters. For example, the accusative clitic of first and second person can not form cluster in conjunction with dative clitic. However, many Spanish L2 learners do not know the proper use of clitic combinations. Therefore, I argue that the explanation of the distribution of clitics should be supplemented in Spanish grammar education. I suggest that related syntactic analyses (Bonet 1991; Ormazabal and Romero 1998, 2007; Perlmutter 1971) are useful to teach clitic clusters in a uniform way and they allow L2 learners to easily understand different types of clitic combinations.
